kafutewe village well repair project

In Malawi, in areas where community-led development and empowerment have not been given a priority, many hand pump boreholes break and then remain in disrepair.

Freshwater Project International completed the repair and refurbishment of a broken borehole well at Kafutwe Primary School outside of Lilongwe.

A handover ceremony and 100 trees were planted around the newly repaired borehole. More than 1,100 students, teachers and community members now have access to safe, clean water!

A trained water-point management committee has been commissioned to over the well and manage its use by the community.
