PROJECT COST:  $5,000

This school is found in Lilongwe northwest in T/A Kalolo approximately 35km from the city of Lilongwe. This school has 1,521 pupils, 15 teachers and a catchment population of 3,321 people. This school has no water source point, no hand washing facilities and poor sanitary facilities (toilets).

Project Proposal: This project will be a complete WASH Project including 4 double pit latrines (2 boys, 2 girls, 2 teachers), 2 urinal stations (1 boy, 1 girls) and 4 hand washing facilities (2 boys, 2 girls). It will also include hygiene training for the students and teachers and will include the planting of 100 trees around the water point and 4-5 trees for each student’s family. It also includes distribution of P&G’s PUR packs to each family. PUR packs - the water purification technology in a powder, is an amazing innovation that quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean and drinkable water.
